If you live in South Florida, or anywhere on the East Coast these days, the most dreaded time of year is Hurricane season. Even the mere thought of a hurricane is stressful, but being a boat owner adds a new level of worry. You have spent tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars on your dream boat. Your happy place. But now a hurricane is barreling your way. Even the most experienced boat owners get nervous during a hurricane and most of them cannot get their boat secured alone. That is why vessel management is important.
If you have planned ahead, you have hired a company or captain to manage your vessel either monthly, twice a month or even weekly. But that might not include special circumstances such as Hurricanes. We suggest you make sure your vessel management agreement includes hurricane services or offers the option to add it on. In most cases, if you are an existing customer, you will get priority services for hurricane prep.
If you do not need vessel management because your boat lives where you live all year round, then you might want to consider hiring a company for hurricane vessel management. Paying a monthly retainer for the just in case situations, might be the way to go.
FL Boating Services offers vessel management monthly, twice a month and weekly, but we also offer customized Hurricane preparedness plans based on your needs, location, boat size, etc. Captain Chris Thompson would be happy to customize a quote for you just in case a hurricane was to hit anywhere in Palm Beach and Broward County. He specializes in only those locations for this service.
